Ten Tips to Become a Successful Blogger or Writer

Ten Tips to Become a Successful Blogger or Writer

Ten Tips to Become a Successful Blogger or Writer
By Anandrahi JS

1. It is said that you can not become a good teacher till you read a lot of books and learn something to teach. Similarly all successful bloggers and writers read a lot and think a lot to teach something to others. Good blogs and articles always have something to tell you or they have some good information that can be valuable for you. So read a lot of good articles and get as much information from various sites as you can. Only a well-informed person can produce good and informative writing.

2. Make a file in computer and write something daily even if it is not much valuable for any body. This practice will help you to learn the art of expression by using effective sentences. If there is a need re-write your write-ups. After some practice you will be able to produce good writings.

3. While reading others' blogs or articles do write comments if you like the writing. It will help you to get name and fame in future as other writers will love to see your comments and as a compliment they would also read your blogs or articles. In every comment do keep a link that will lead them to your article or blog.

4. While writing learn to use your mind. A dose of imagination can be very helpful in creating a write-up that can stimulate others. Then readers would like to read more of your articles wherever they find it.

5. Don't try to produce writings like a machine. Concentration on quantity may hit your quality. To get popularity it is better to write 10 good articles than writing a mediocre 100.

6. Be good in punctuation. Learn it thoroughly from a good grammar book. While use of good punctuation can enhance the power of your expression a bad one can puncture the enthusiasm of a reader.

7. Without grammatically correct sentences your write-up will be as dead in the eyes of the readers as a body without soul. Hit badly by your one article nobody is going to read your other articles. If you have not learnt good grammar at school or college learn it properly by reading good grammar books or joining a good English training school.

8. Do learn some HTML so that you are able to use it while formatting your writings. Good look has its value. You will not find WYSIWYG formatting editor at every site.

9. Write with complete confidence in you. While writing always think that your article will be able to influence the readers. You have the power to write good articles. Your confidence and enthusiasm will be communicated to the readers with your words. They would love to read more from you.

10. Patience is necessary to succeed at anything. People really take time to actually recognise your quality. Never quit even if you fail again and again. Be sure success will be within your grasp if you continence to hit the target with persistence.

“You cannot write anything that will convince unless you are yourself convinced. The best seller sells because he writes with his heart's blood.”

=Somerset Maugham

“Always grab the reader by the throat in the first paragraph, send your thumbs into his windpipe in the second, and hold him against the wall until the tagline.” = Paul O'Neil

Add a Site Map To Your Blog And Get Indexed By Google

Add a Site Map To Your Blog And Get Indexed By Google

Add a Site Map To Your Blog And Get Indexed By Google
By Waheed Elqalatawy

If you want to add a site map and get indexed in google immediately, here is the procedure
which is the result of tens of times of trial and error, after bouncing between the conventional
wisdom of the savvy webmasters in Blogger classic and the unaware assessment of the results
by the newbies. The confirmation is down the article.

Adding a site map to my blog was never thought to be written about by me. I was -and still-
writing about health a simplified scientific article or a humble personal opinion, yet trying to
verify my blog and add a site map to it was impossible for me at classic Blogger. I then
upgraded to Blogger-beta where verification was much more easier, that was after I had
understood that Blogger will never allow uploading any files to its server.

When coming to 'add a site map' step, I found it to be extremely exhaustive hard experiment. It
is something out of the scope of my knowledge and interests, because I know nothing about
html, and when I tried to add a site map I thought it is a WYSIWYG like posting my blogs, then
when I tried the least modifications to cope with what I am asked to do, the PC surprised me
with "the opening and closing tags","the incorrect format'....etc.

I was chained to the computer for hours repeatedly on a trial and error basis, beginning with
copy and paste and ending with matching the format with other blogs like "Blogger Tips and
Tricks" and "Hakuna Matata" after I read ' html Tags Definitions' in Blogger help.
I got frustrated many times and I began thinking to quit the whole thing, because why should I
write what nobody will read it.

Finally, the unexpected happened , and I added a site map to my blog!

I feel pity and passion for the same folks who are like what I was, and this dictated me to write
describing precisely how any one can add the site map to his blog easily and what mistakes to
avoid, besides, I may find some of them interested in what I write in my blog. Who knows?

Shall we go ?
1- Go to my blog at: waheedelqalatawy at blogger.

2- Click "View" and select "Source", there will be a text document, click"file" and select "save".

3- Go to 'My Account' in google (since you have a blog) and click the 'Webmaster Tools' button.

4- Under ' Add Site' , type in: http://your blog name.blogger.com
(.DO NOT TYPE IN : WWW.)

5- You will be asked to verify your site. choose "add tag", copy it in the text document to
make sure it is the same before pasting it in your "edit html" page in the head segment.

6- Modify the text document by typing in your blog name and your blog ID ( you may find it in
the address bar if you typed your URL in the address bar.

7- Copy and paste the modified document in the head segment in the html page of your blog.

8- Go to " Webmaster Tools" again and check verify.

9- After verification, click on " Add a Site map", and type in :

http://your blog name.blogspot.com/rss.xml.

( Neglect any thing written under the window, this is the only format that will get your site
map added, and again (DO NOT TYPE IN: WWW.)

It will be Pending for few minutes to few hours, and if you have implemented every thing right,
your site map will be added.
You are done. Congrats.

This is what your site map status looks like when added to your blog:

Sitemap Type Submitted LastDownloaded SitemapStatus URLs submitted

rss.xml Atom Feed Web Nov 6,2006 Nov16,2006 OK 26
( Downloading the site map by Googlebot is frequent, don' t worry about time period).

TIPS:
1- Do not look at the examples given by the 'Webmaster Tools' page.

2- If you are stuck, add another site and never delete one before your site map is added.

3- If for any reason, your site map is not added, keep matching what you do with this schedule
and do not try any thing else to keep away from a bitter taste experiment.

How to Open a Blog in Blogger Instantly?

How to Open a Blog in Blogger Instantly?

How to Open a Blog in Blogger Instantly?
By C.K. Li

There is a lot of free blogs on the web that you can choose. But the one in blogger.com is a bit different. It allows you to paste your own Adsense ads here and make money from it. Why don't we take a ride and open a free blog account in blogger?

The application is very simple and consists of three steps:

1. Choose a blog name you like:

You can choose a nice sub-domain for your blog. Just pick up one name that best describe your site. Also, it should be easily memorable to visitors. Apart from that, if you have your own domain or subdomain, you can also use your own domain to replace the one in blogger.com. In my case, I choose www.dagsensecodes.com as my blog URL. In the new version of blogger, you may even apply a new domain name and then host this domain at Google server at dns.google.com. In this way, you can have an unique domain name like mine, and no need to apply for a web hosting service which is a bit expensive.

2. Provide your personal information

This step is also easy. Similar to other online services you apply, just provide blogger.com your name, email address etc. All the information are kept confidential, and no need to worry about the junk mails that may send to your email address.

3. Pick up a template

Among a series of templates, just choose the one you love. Pick a wrong one? No worry, you can change this template whenever you want. Apart from those free templates provided in blogger.com, you can also find other blogger templates in other websites. You may even pick up a three-column template like mine. If you are a HTML savvy, you can also make your own unique template.

What is Blogger.com

What is Blogger.com

What is Blogger.com?
By Jakob Jelling

In the late 1990’s three San Francisco based web developers came up with the idea of being able to share information about anything on the web. The terminology they used was called blog. It's use was considered a mix of web page / personal journal. It's original usages were vast and wide, but more and more people came to use them as a personal tool that is available anywhere the Internet is. The three friends would eventually create Blogger.com one of the largest blogger sites on the Internet today. Blogger, which stands for Web Logger, has increased in popularity over the past three years. There has been so much interest in what capabilities it holds Google.com purchased them. Eventually, Google assimilated their technologies and imported them into the popular plug-in, The Google Toolbar.

Blogger.com allows a user to create a userid. Depending on the userid and password the user creates a specialized link namely “yourlinkname.blogspot.com”. This space can be saved as a bookmark and published to the public or through a distribution list to a select few people. Your site is logged as a “webring” type of atmosphere, should you decide to take the information public. You can see all users who have published blogs and even enter in information on the blogs should they let you. Discussion groups and personal files are housed all within this environment making it a fun place to surf about and learn about different people and things.

You can create a private discussion group and send out information via email to let people know when content or a thread has changed. Blog is like a portal for individuals, instead of business. There are many robust features involved to keep your blog private should you not want to share information publicly. Its interface even includes a word processing editor so you can format the background and font all from one simple location. The ideas are simple; you can share information around the world without having to let everyone on the Internet community know your blog exists.

The necessity for a personal online portal or “blog” has considerable potential, as the Internet continues to evolve.

Tracking AdSense Ads in Blogger

Tracking AdSense Ads in Blogger

Tracking AdSense Ads in Blogger
By Gennifer C.

I recently decided to do some serious research on tracking
software for my Google AdSense program and was a little bit
surprised with the results.

There are several nice looking products out there, some of
which are available for free as open source programs while
others are for sale with a free trial or a money back
guaranty. A simple Google search for "adsense tracking
software" will keep you busy for hours.

There is, however, a problem with all of these options if
you are one of the many bloggers hosting your Google AdSense
ads on blogger.com or any of the other free blog hosts. You
will find that all third party software programs require
files to be loaded on the server. This issue alone excludes
them from use on your free blog.

For those bloggers using a free platform, the question
becomes, "How do I track my AdSense ads?". Rest easy dear
friends. There is a solution. Granted, it's not as slick or
simple as one of those cool self contained programs, and
this method will not produce quite as much data, but it is
free and it will work and it's not overly complicated.

The first thing you have to do is take advantage of the
channels option when you set up your ad designs. It is a
very simple process to complete. After you have chosen the
size and colors of the add block, you will be asked to
"Choose Ad Channels". Click "add new channel" and enter
a name for this new channel. I prefer to use a name that
describes the ad or referral link, such as "Top Banner",
"Right Wide Tower", "FF Referral", etc. This way I can
easily recognize each ad block or referral in my reports and
gauge it's performance. If you have multiple sites, be sure
to include a site prefix in each name. ("Dogs Right Link
Box", Cats Left Referral Button") For proper tracking, it
is necessary to go through this process for each ad unit,
link box, referral button, or text link.

Next go to Google Analytics. Get your account set up, then
install the javascript code into your template and wait for
the system to start gathering information. This process
takes overnight because the Google Analytics system collects
and compiles it's data every 24 hours. When this data
starts to flow you will have plenty to look at for a while
until you decide exactly what is important to you. You can
dissect this information any number of ways including the
all important "Keywords" category and you can set up the
system to report multiple websites.

I also like to set up an account for each site over at Sitemeter.com.

One benefit to having the sitemeter account
is that it reports in real time instead of having to wait
until the next day for your hit count.

Now you have the ability to see exactly which ad units and
referral links are performing and which are not by checking
your AdSense report with channels. You can monitor the flow
of traffic through your site(s) including the referring URL,
keywords used, and tons more through Google Analytics. You
have a source for real time hit data with sitemeter. All of
which was free.

With these three tools in place you should be able to
generate all of the data you need to manage a successful
Google Adsense experience.

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for the Layman

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for the Layman

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for the Layman
By Abraham Flores III

HTML is the language that deals with the layout of websites. It tells what goes where and how it works. In the past at the birth of the internet and HTML, HTML also detailed the design or the look and feel of websites. However, this trait has become depreciated with the advent of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Furthermore, with the advances of technology and programming your old five page website of pure information about a business is going the way of VHS with more and more companies--and customers as well--demanding highly interactive and informational websites. Most server-script languages support the use of HTML internally and many websites you may visit have the suffix ".asp" or ".php" for its respective server-script. That doesn't mean you'll never see the classic ".html" again any time soon. The demise of HTML is way off and even when it gets fully out-moded it will still remain present in modern server scripting languages in the sense that server script deals with information control but HTML will still be required as part of the information network.

HTML and other web related languages are governed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which governs all such languages in the same manner the World Trade Organization governs international tariffs. There is a standard of code which all HTML documents must reference and adhere to and furthermore the web browsers themselves must abide by. If it weren't for this level of organization, there would be chaos in internet technology. Further, it sets precedent and grapples with the ever changing web design market with the advent of technologies like CSS.

The W3C requires two parts to your HTML document, the doctype declaration and the primary structure. There are four HTML tags which comprise the primary HTML structure and must be present within your HTML document in addition to the doctype declaration. An HTML tag is any command which consists of a word enclosed in ‹›. The four primary tags are the HTML tag, which is the lettering HTML within two ‹› typed ‹HTML›, the HEAD tag, typed ‹HEAD›, the TITLE tag, and the BODY tag all with appropriate closing tags. All html tags are started as ‹TAG› and end as ‹/TAG›. They are called opening and closing tags respectively. You may recognize these from my main pages down the left side and my various links disguised as these tags. If you look back, that is the basic primary structure of a website.

You could think of all HTML tags as a sandwich. You have your first slice ‹HTML›, some information, then your second slice of bread ‹/HTML›. Furthermore, the overall structure of the website is similar. You have ‹HTML›, ‹HEAD›, ‹TITLE›, the title of your site, ‹/TITLE›, ‹/HEAD›, ‹BODY›, the layout and other info of your website, ‹/BODY›, ‹/HTML›. That may look something like the following in a real HTML document:

‹HTML›
‹HEAD›
‹TITLE›AAF Consulting, Web Design‹/TITLE›
‹/HEAD›

‹BODY›
Welcome to My Website!
‹/BODY›
‹/HTML›

The doctype declaration tells the web browser which version of HTML you are using and which level of strictness and/or type. There is 1.0 and 2.0 as well as XHTML. Also, each of those has the Strict type, Transitional type, and the Frameset type. The doctype declaration must be the first thing in your HTML document, even before the opening HTML tag. For a list of these doctype declarations, visit he W3C Website and lookup doctype declarations.

If you forget to include a doctype declaration or are not sure what to do with it when you get one, its okay. Most web browsers default to HTML 2.0 Transitional and your website will display fine anyways. However, keep in mind that you may upset your next web designer because this will cause extra work for the designer and increase your final invoice.

If you don't think you're quite ready to hand code HTML on your own, that's perfectly fine. There's a lot more to it than simply laying out the primary structure. There are many simple to use resources out there at your disposal. The easiest but most expensive is to contact your Web Designer or Web Master. However, you may purchase software to aid in your creation. Some of these programs are well designed and you don't ever look at code, only your design, such as Microsoft FrontPage. Others are meant more for the professional web designer such as Macromedia Dreamweaver. Also, if you are using a webhost such as Yahoo! or GooglePages--Google's GooglePages is still in beta--it has free tools for your web design and provides free webhosting.
